Dr Orlagh Farmer is a qualified physical education teacher and lecturer on the Early Years Degree Programme in Cork College of Commerce night college in conjunction with Dundalk Institute of Technology. Orlagh’s PhD research ‘Gaelic4Girls’ focused on the promotion of young girls (8-12-years) physical activity, skill competency and wellbeing in a community sports-based setting. Orlagh has worked on national childhood physical activity/physical literacy projects, co-designed part of the NCCA Leaving Cert Physical Education curriculum and has published a number of academic papers related to her research. She is passionate about empowering coaches, teachers, and parents through the medium of sport and runs coach education workshops at a local, national, and international level. Orlagh is also a current member of the Cork Senior Ladies Football team and is the holder of 6 All-Ireland medals.
