Having developed her career as a mature student following the impact of addiction on her own family, Bernadette is passionate about providing creative opportunities that engage people with lifelong learning. She places a high value on both academic and experiential processes in reconnecting the individual with self, family and community. Bernadette fosters a compassionate, collaborative, experiential approach in her facilitation style that encourages the learner to fully engage both intellectually and emotionally.
Bernadette is a fully accredited Addiction Counsellor currently working in Cuan Mhuire Treatment Service. She has facilitated the Strengthening Families Programme for Arbour House and the Probation Service, and ran family support groups with Tabor Lodge Treatment Service. She is also working in private therapy practice with both one-to-one clients and groups.
As a member of a counselling and psychotherapy group for the last twelve years Bernadette brings a broad experience of therapeutic groupwork from various traditions. Bernadette has a BA (HONS) Counselling with Addiction, a H. Dip in Substance Misuse and Addiction Issues and Post Grad Certificates in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Gambling Addiction and also Mental Health Promotion in the Community.
